Symposium on the creative work of Friedrich Cerha

February 12th 2016, Start: 9.30 a.m., Danube University Krems, Seminar Room 0.2 (Old Building, Ground Floor)

Cerha is not only a composer, performer and conductor, but he has also created an extensive body of work in the visual arts, created a special spoken language for his stage play, written libretti and lyrics, and reflected upon his own works as well as general matters of cultural life in numerous articles.  The interaction with different forms of artistic expression such as the visual arts, literature,  architecture, as well as the concepts and hypotheses of the humanities and natural sciences permeates through his artistic work(s).The aim of this symposium is for Friedrich Cerha to be viewed as a life-long inquirer who curiously experiments with “materials”, be it of musical, linguistic or actually tangible nature and who takes inspiration for his artistic creation from hypotheses and structural models of different scientific disciplines.

With presentations by Daniel Ender (Alban Berg Foundation Vienna), Anne Fritzen (University of Siegen), Lukas Haselböck, Hartmut Krones (both: Univery of Music and Performance Art Vienna), Theresia Hauenfels and Gundula Wilscher (both: Archives of Contemporary Arts), hosted by Nina Polaschegg, Supervisor: Gundula Wilscher.
